Pre-Move Best Practices

✅ Cap City Movers™ –
🕐 1. Confirm the Move Details
-
Double-check the move date and time with your coordinator.
-
Confirm addresses (pickup & delivery) and parking arrangements.
-
Make sure your contact info is up-to-date and your phone is charged and on.
📦 2. Finish Packing (If Self-Packing)
-
Have all boxes packed, sealed, and labeled by the night before.
-
Use sturdy boxes and avoid overpacking.
-
Label each box with:
-
Room name
-
Brief contents
-
“Fragile” or “This Side Up” (if needed)
-
🛏️ 3. Disassemble Furniture (If Not Included in Services)
-
Take apart beds, remove mirrors from dressers, and disassemble large items.
-
Place screws and small parts in labeled plastic bags and tape them to the item.
🚫 4. Set Aside Items Not to Be Moved

Personal items to keep with you:
-
Important documents
-
Medications

Chargers/devices

Empty and defrost your refrigerator 24 hours before.

Wipe down all appliances inside and out.

Keep them away from walkways and moving equipment.
🚗 7. Prepare Your Home for Movers
-
Clear walkways inside and out.
-
Reserve elevator or loading dock (if applicable).
-
Protect floors and remove doorstops (optional, as movers may bring floor runners and protectors).
📝 8. Do a Final Walkthrough
-
Check every room, closet, drawer, and storage area.
-
Dispose of or donate anything not coming with you.
💳 9. Be Ready for Moving Day
-
Have payment ready (if paying balance on move day).
-
Be present or have a responsible adult on-site.

Provide water or light snacks if you'd like (optional but appreciated!).
